Don’t let the cold weather slow you down

No sooner have we got our tables and chairs out in the garden enjoying a bit of warm sunshine and it seems we are packing them away again! Central heating is back on, spiders are out in force, geese have flown South – and the car windows are misted up. Winter has arrived!

This time of year often catches people out because it seems to be such a quick transition from warm sunshine to cold damp or frosty mornings. There is nothing more frustrating than leaving the house on time only to find your car windows frozen up and you are armed with nothing but your credit card to aid the scraping process.

Thankfully there are a few products on the market that ease the pain of scraping your car windows free of ice and having to watch the minutes tick by whilst the heater warms up enough to clear the windscreen so you can safely get going.

Most de-icer manufacturers admit that you do need to use a fair amount of the product to get the results you want, so you may wish to stock up and buy more than one so you don’t get caught out over the winter months!

These are some de-icer brands which are shown to have good ratings:

Autoglym De-Icer – De-ices glass and locks to -50 degrees and you can buy for about £4.00 online.

Prestone De-Icer – melts ice fast and prevents re-freeze. Protection down to -25 degrees. Cheaper than Autoglym at about £1.80 online.

CarPlan Super De-Icer – melts ice fast and works down to -15 degrees and is the cheapest of these 3 at about £1.70 online.
